Located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 1.000 km southwest from mainland Portugal, the Autonomous Region of Madeira is part of the Portuguese Republic and the European Union and comprises two islands, Madeira, the largest with 250.000 inhabitants, and a small sister island, Porto Santo.<\/span><\/p>

It is also for this reason that Funchal (capital of Madeira) is a mandatory port of call for the major cruise liner companies such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC and others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Annually, almost 1,8 million tourists landing at Cristiano Ronaldo Airport (the famous football player born on the island) and approximately 500,000 cruise passengers arriving in Funchal, Madeira.
